I grew up in a block of flats and was blessed to dwell in the very building which was closely surrounded by other horrible gray and red-ish cubes. The one opposite our room (I shared a room with my baby sister till I moved out) was particularly horrible, 7 storeys and maybe 400m long.

(hint: Youtube)
During the long winter evenings I dreamt about commiting such a great project: make a paper model (grid on a checked paper, simply) of the building (quite interesting, some windows were kind of joined togethers, sometimes there were balconies > a lot of space for phantasy), think about a sign or a picture or a message (remember I was about 9 at that time. But say 3 years later I woke up one January Saturday morning and spotted – on the snow-covered sportpitch between our block and the block I’ve been talking about now – a giant sign “I LOVE YOU *******!” and I thought that it was the cutest thing ever. Hm…) and stick a little piece of paper in each and every mailbox and ask the occupants to switch on/off the ligths at a certain time and date for say 10min, so I (and possibly some onlookers) would get a plenty of time to take pictures.
Well I never got guts for it really, but thought about some patterns. Also I wondered how I could sneak into the individual entrances, down where the mailboxes are, the main doors used to be locked.
But a group of Polish university nerds were braver and they actually made this come true in a very sophisticated way. I just wonder how they managed to pursue all inhabitants of T16 to provide them with the rooms! Even THAT is very impressive… Well done!
